Brent Palmer's Credit Crunch

2 Jun 2009 15:08Submit a commentBizLike
Feeling the squeeze, overcooked and getting a raw deal? Your bank manager tightening the screws? Time then for a mouthful of "Credit Crunch" at Obz Café Theatre with Brent Palmer - the famous comedian that most people in his immediate family have heard of.
From 13 - 27 June 2009, Tuesday to Saturday at 8.30pm, you can laugh, cry and gnash your teeth with Brent as he ventures into the dark underworld of inflation, deflation, Cape flats sushi, corporate crooks, Third World debt and the real heroes who deal with the Big Issues… at the traffic lights. Bring the family, bring your friends, nobody out there has escaped the Crunch. And, hey, you may even spot your broker in the audience - but be patient, you can bliksem him after the show.

Yes, Brent Palmer is back! The same man who still returns to Grassy Park for his mommy's Sunday lunch, regularly cashes in discount coupons, drives a dodgy sedan with a missing rear indicator, and has directed Nik Rabinowitz in his last five shows.

A born and bred Cape flats local and London trained actor, comedian, playwright and director, Palmer has been seen in many productions at the Baxter, Artscape, Maynardville, as well as on screen choosing the beer over the girl in a lager ad, then being gunned down by Stephen Segal in Mercenary for Justice. “After surviving that,” says Brent, “living through a financial crisis has been amazing, it has been terrible, it has been amazingly terrible and terribly amazing.”

For sixty minutes you'll forget about the wife leaving with the TT, SARS knocking at the door, and those pesky politicians and their zillion dollar jols. You'll discover how others are feeling the pinch, from motivational bergies, to entrepreneurial gangsters and microwave dinner yuppies. You'll leave confident that life is not about how much money you have in the bank. It's about how much you have under the mattress.

Tickets are available through Obz Café 021 448 5555, 115 Lower Main Road, Observatory and cost R70.
