Paul van Dyk, a disappointing event
But I am an optimist and thought that one little hiccup was a minimal price to pay for the fun that lay ahead. So, after an hour's driving and another hour sitting in the car waiting to get into the VIP parking, we finally got to the gates, only to find out there was a problem with our tickets. I must say that the situation was handled very well and, eventually, with VIP wrist bands attached, we made our way through the crowds of people.
No paintballing, quad biking or slip-and-sliding
I couldn't wait to go paintballing, quad biking or slip-and-sliding as the pamphlet had promised. Yet there were none of the above. (At this point my optimistic spirit was beginning to waver.) There is nothing a good drink can't fix and with 150m of bar how could I go wrong? Well there was only about 30m, if that, but a drink is a drink so R20 spent, one Savannah down and I was ready to let the music clear my head and fix all the problems.
I will say that the DJs were all excellent and the lighting was phenomenal, but it definitely has to be your scene to spend 26 hours there (and I would feel sorry for your wallet afterwards). Paul van Dyk definitely rocked that stage harder than I thought was possible and he certainly cleared up my annoyed emotions and replaced them with a vibe I'll never forget.
So, yes, I was disappointed and probably would never do it again for fear of being lied to again, but thank you Paul van Dyk and all other DJs for keeping the music real and full of truth.
