Durban designers to knock Delhi dead

Katherine Montague recently completed the entire range of fashion garments for and co-produced the fashion show hosted by Danny Moodliyar aboard a cruise liner. She and three fellow Durban designers are now smack in the middle of creating a brand new range to wow the fashion fraternity of India later this month.

Katherine will be part of an entourage of chefs, dancers and designers invited by the South African High Commission in India to showcase our country using cuisine, dance and design. This is in celebration of the 27 April South African holiday - Freedom Day -which coincides with the National Day celebrations of India. The entire showcase is scheduled for between 21 and 30 April 2008.

The other three Durban-based designers are Lynette Ganesan, Kwame Khuzwayo and Sbu Msimang. They will travel and exhibit their designs in Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai (better known as Bollywood).

All designers were given the brief to show off South Africa, and as far as possible theme their collections around the land and cityscapes of KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape.

For Katherine this is a milestone in her career as a designer, as it puts her on the same ramp with designers such as Malcolm Kluk, Christiaan Gabriel Du Toit and design house Stoned Cherrie.
