Sauvignon Blancs welcome summer

Both Robertson Winery and Fleur du Cap have released a new Sauvignon Blanc for summer.
Sauvignon Blancs welcome summer

Robertson Winery has launched a Lightly Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc, which is neither a light wine nor a sparkling wine but a new style of Sauvignon Blanc with an added dazzle of tiny bubbles to delight the senses on a hot summer's day.

Presented in an unique eye-catching 'skittle' shaped bottle, with a vibrant turquoise capsule sporting dazzling white bubbles, it is widely available nationally at major liquor retailers and grocers, retailing for approximately R50.

There's another feather in the Fleur du Cap, as the 2014 vintage sports a new label, featuring a gold emblazoned cartouche that depicts the biodiversity of the Cape Floral Kingdom. Table Mountain and a carpet of vineyards are framed by a tableau of birds, flowers, monkeys and insects. Even Bacchus, the god of wine, makes an appearance in this Garden of Eden. This premier range is making its debut with the new 2014 Sauvignon Blanc vintage.

"The palate of this wine is rich and full-bodied with multiple layers herbaceous and tropical fruit flavours. It makes a divine pairing with tangy Thai dishes or fish garnished with lemon," says Pieter Badenhorst, who is responsible for Fleur du Cap white wines and works closely with Cellarmaster Andrea Freeborough and viticulturist Bennie Liebenberg at Die Bergkelder in Stellenbosch.

Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Sauvignon Blanc 2014 is available at select restaurants, boutique wine stores or at the cellar door at Die Bergkelder from around R100 per bottle.
