IS Mozambique wins award for service

Internet Solutions (IS) Mozambique has received the Diamond Arrow Award for the Best Internet Service Provider in the Business category, following the results of a three month independent study conducted by PMR.africa. IS Mozambique received the coveted award at a ceremony that took place early last week in Maputo.

The independent study on the Mozambican business market, conducted from January to March 2011, covered all the major industry sectors in Mozambique. It was a PMR.africa initiative and was not commissioned by a third party.

Respondents, which included 150 CEOs, MDs, owners of companies, company directors, senior employees and senior local and national government officials, were required to spontaneously nominate a company within a specific business sector mentioned by PMR.africa researchers, and then rate them against a set of criteria. The respondents were not promoted to mention or rate any specific company during the study and no companies or institutions were able to proactively enter the process or ask to be nominated.

    Nomination criteria

The criteria used to rate the nominated companies included factors such as which companies or institutions have done the most to enhance the economic growth and development of the country, their level of management expertise, their implementation of corporate governance, their level of innovation and the level of brand awareness amongst the respondents.

Based on this evaluation, IS Mozambique was rated the best Internet service provider in the business category, with an overall score of 4.30 out of a possible 5.00.

"We are very proud to receive this award, as it validates that hard work we have been putting in to make IS the leading provider of connectivity services in Mozambique," explains Hermann Woithe, CEO of IS Mozambique. "With just over 12 months operating as IS Mozambique, we hope to continue in the same vein that won us this award and cement our position as the leading local ISP."

IS Mozambique was formed in 2009 when IS and convergence wireless networks acquired a majority equity stake in leading Mozambican internet service provider (ISP), INTRA Lda. Established in 2001, INTRA was one of the first wireless broadband ISPs in Maputo, and as a leader in this field carries with it a wealth of local market knowledge.
