Die Antwoord take it to the next level
[Ruth Cooper] Jumping on the bandwagon, so to speak, BizLounge thought we should get in on a little of Die Antwoord hype and action (and Google hits) and do our own little story on the interesting phenomena that is Die Antwoord. There is no denying that the trio that make up Die Antwoord have recently exploded over the net and have taken not just SA by storm but have also caused quite the stir internationally.
Connecting with “Connected”
[Daphne Cooper] The nearly full Artscape Theatre, for the launch of Melanie Scholtz's new album “Connected”, was a good way to end the weekend. The supporting act was the Artscape Youth Jazz Vocal Ensemble of six people, who Melanie has taught and supported. They did a few slick-and-stylish numbers and made me appreciate some of my favourite standards in new ways - especially lovely renditions of Nature Boy and Feeling Good.

Stillwaters releases EP

In 1987, brothers Kevin, Rodney and Ivan Pillay started jamming together, honing our skills and to shorten a long journey, they are now a band called Stillwaters. BASA releases research on arts sponsorship

The bi-annual Business and Arts South Africa (BASA) Artstrack research study is out now, outlining the trends for 2009 in the arts and culture market in South Africa. Conducted nationally over a period of two and a half months, the key finding is that arts sponsorship has grown to nearly R360 million in 2009, more than double the 2001 figure, when the arts market was estimated at around R136 million. 4 Feb 2010 12:49
