IMC to engage on Marikana dispute

What happened at Marikana last week is a blot on this country, and in an effort to ensure that what happened there does not happen again, the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) has committed to finding a solution to the dispute. It cannot be allowed to fail.

MCI Consultants recently released the results of its recruitment trend survey. It revealed some interesting points, such as 93% of organisations try to recruit internally before approaching recruitment agencies, and 53% use social media to recruit candidates, with LinkedIn being by far the most successful. There's far more to the survey, of course - so don't just sit there, take a look.

You know that favourite storage device of yours? Well, if you're not careful there's a pretty good chance it's infected... A recent survey found that a third of computer users have infected storage devices.

On the science front, SA is on a roll when it comes to its output of research. What's more, South Africa has also more than doubled its publication numbers in the same period covered by the survey, namely 2000-2010, from 3617 in 2000, to 7468 in 2010.

Now for a melodious message - and we think this is simfly suupah! A music streaming service is to launch in SA. Launch date is 27 August.

Finally, to end... our classy, built-for-comfort motoring editor Henrie Geyser, car-waxes enthusiastically over the new Mazda BT-50.
