The Cheetah Outreach's cub rearing facility, based at Eikendal Wine Estate, was flattened by floodwaters following an electrical storm over the mountains, which caused a dam on the Eikendal upslope to rupture its wall, sending a deluge of mud, vines and water through the enclosures.

The University of Cape Town's construction studies students recently got their hands dirty at the Tembaletu School for learners with special needs in Gugulethu, Cape Town. Over the past few weeks the students have raised R52 800 for the community build, which forms part of one of the first-year courses in the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment at UCT.

Learners at the Enkululekweni Primary School in Kraaifontein, Cape Town recently had a pleasant surprise with a donation of 200 pairs of shoes by Old Mutual Corporate. This was part of the corporate social investment campaign at the recent Institute of Retirement Funds (IRF) Conference where delegates donated R10,00 towards a buying a new pair of school shoes for disadvantaged learners.
