| Marketing | | The ad industry reclaims the "Loeries" with a new award [Louise Marsland] BREAKING NEWS: The advertising industry has effectively hi-jacked the Loerie Awards from the Marketing Federation of South Africa (MFSA), as the battle to reclaim the creative impetus and magic that was Loeries, reaches its apex. The Association for Communication and Advertising (ACA) today announced that it will be launching a new awards for the industry if the Loerie brand is not returned to the advertising industry.
Will the Loerie Awards become as extinct as the Dodo? [Louise Marsland] So what if the MFSA refuses to give up the Loerie brand? We will have to have a new name for the industry's most illustrious advertising awards. And to avoid them ending up like a turkey, or an ostrich with its head in the sand, as characterized by the MFSA's dealings with the creative industry, we will need something that spells out a new direction. Do we stick with the fauna and flora theme, or do we go for something that characterizes the ubuntu that the ACA wishes to instill in the new awards?  The GFO is a section 21, non-Profit Company. It is a division of the Gauteng Economic Development Agency (GEDA), the province's official economic, investment and trade promotion agency. The GFO was formed in December 2000 and it is mandated to market, promote and facilitate new filmed productions in the Gauteng province.
