Last week's Gauteng launch of PR-Net, publicist Brian Berkman's networking forum for the PR industry, made me realize how important it is for us to network with our peers on a regular basis. We all need feedback - be it positive or negative and if you want to be part of an industry it is no longer just acceptable to sit comfortably in your own little silo. It is important to contribute to the growth of an industry through various forums such as the benchmarking MFSA's transformation initiatives, through networking at social forums such as PR-Net, or getting involved in industry associations or training schools. In recent interviews with the FCB's eloquent Maserame Mouyeme and PRISA's effervescent president, Kate Bapela, both stressed how important mentoring had been in their careers, and how both, although busier than most, consistently make time to give back to our sector by mentoring others and their involvement in leading industry forums. Brian, Kate, Maserame and all the other unsung heroes driving change and dynamic growth in our industry are an inspiration to us all.
Have a good one!
