It was a good week for the Creative Industries as several media and communications sector women were nominated as finalists in the Nedbank Business Woman of the Year Award, as well as the Shoprite/SABC 2 Women of the Year. Congratulations to all and good luck! The past week also saw the launch of the Marketing Federation of SA's research project to benchmark the empowerment status of the industry - with the view to launching an industry-wide Black Economic Empowerment Scorecard for the industry. The project goes live next week, so watch this space for news on all the links so your company can participate - it's up to all of us. If you don't participate, you have no voice. And big congrats to all the empowerment deals that were concluded last week in the industry. It is certainly good news to see all the deals going down, but remember that empowerment also includes nurturing talent from the ranks, and the transference of true operational and decision-making power within organisations.
Have a good one...
