Well done to Scharrer advertising for the great Sentech commercial for MyWireless (the broadcasting and wireless Internet enabler). It's a pity the client cannot match expectations in terms of delivery or customer service. I'm one of the lucky few apparently, that is happy with MyWireless Internet connection from Sentech. But the backlash from techies and businesses which have tried to subscribe in Gauteng and Cape Town, is massive. There are now two Internet sites for people who have MyWireless that doesn't work or only works some of the time, to vent their frustration, and when the subject comes up at business functions, there isn't a good word to be said. The general consensus in the marketplace is that Sentech hugely underestimated demand from consumers tired of the monopolistic alternative, and it's a pity that their failure to meet customer expectations has damaged the brand even before it's really launched itself nationally - there's a lesson here for all marketers. Because it really is an awesome product when it works and my surf time is dramatically reduced by the speed and accessibility, not to mention the savings in telephone bills. They need to go back to the basics, satisfy the customers they already have, apologise to those that can't get it to work and refund their subscriptions, and revert with realistic rollouts in other areas of SA.
