Champagne and protea arrangements aside, the essence of this year's Design Indaba may well have been summed up by representative of Chief Sponsor HP, Wim Heunick - always asked why HP sponsor the Indaba when all the delegates are using Apple Macs, he says, "the traditional toaster doesn't make my day". Which is why one supposes they are continually striving to create better products. His statement gets right to the heart of the impact designers can have in improving our interface with the world.
Design Indaba - Day 1 - State of the Art[Terry Levin] Scales, sledghammers and stray bull terriers - was the cryptic title of this morning's opening speaker, our very own Graham Warsop of Jupiter Drawing Room fame.
