scoring its first award! Conferred by A Green Revolution for Africa for "exceptional contributions to food security in Africa", the ACCI received its award from Nobel peace prize laureate Kofi Annan.
Lastly, in an endeavour to keep our coasts clean and our marine life protected, the Western, Northern and Eastern Cape coasts will soon have
bins in which fishermen can discard broken or used line. The project, successfully implemented along the Overberg's Gansbaai shoreline, uses PVC pipe as bins for fishing line. According to John Kieser, sustainability manager of Plastics|SA, the project has received plenty of support from the public and fishermen have also welcomed the initiative. Well done to all involved!

According to Allafrica.com, Greenpeace called on the Senegalese government to immediately investigate the causes of dead, in the past few weeks, animal species within its waters. 
South African National Park's (SANParks) newest national park, Mokala National Park in the Northern Cape has added two important properties Lilydale and Valschfontein as part of its park expansion programme. 
Plastics|SA has announced the names of the winning schools that entered its sixth annual Clean-Up & Recycle Competition. 
Mitsubishi Motors SA has joined up with Rhino Force, a well-established organisation which is involved in creating public awareness and support for initiatives to save the local rhino population from poachers. The organisation has already raised more than R1 million for rhino conservation. 
The South African National Parks (SANParks) and Denel have signed a Memorandum of Understanding through which they will jointly combat rhino poaching in South Africa. There will be an immediate programme of action, which promises to result in a significant decrease in the number of animals illegally hunted, specifically in the Kruger National Park. 
The South African National Parks (SANParks) said in a statement that the anthrax outbreak that started in late August in the north of the Kruger National Park has claimed the lives of 30 hippopotamus in the Letaba and Olifants Rivers in the past two weeks. Post mortems results from some of the carcases suggest they were infected by the bacteria.
