 | SOUTH AFRICA [Robert Sussman] While the trend to outsource critical services and support shows no sign of abating, businesses seem reluctant to take on the new outsource business model. The result is that businesses today engage the market based on outdated methodology.

| | SOUTH AFRICA [Mark Gray] Social recruiting brings about a powerful new way of finding hard-to-reach candidates as talent increasingly shifts online. |
 | SOUTH AFRICA [Dr Nikolaus Eberl] Vilified by some, loved by others - the leadership legacy of Margaret Thatcher is as varied as it is distinct. Said German chancellor Angela Merkel: "She was an extraordinary leader in global politics of her time. I will never forget her part in surmounting the division of Europe and at the end of the Cold War." |
 | SOUTH AFRICA [Chemory Gunko] With our staggering unemployment rates and high competition for every advertised post, you'd think job seekers would put more effort into how they present themselves. |
 | SOUTH AFRICA [Will Smith] To be recruited by a reputable company in a city like London is not easy. Some use employment agencies, and for many this is sufficient. However, there are two main concerns here: Is the chosen employment agency good, and are there other resources (like social media) that you can use to fast track the whole process in order to get an interview? |
 | SOUTH AFRICA [Annie McWalter] An interesting article, "SAIRR calls for BEE to be scrapped", was posted on Bizcommunity.com on 21 January. While we understand the frustrations that surround BEE, we believe that there are various aspects of it that are working well within the pillar of Enterprise Development. In response to that article, The Hope Factory would like to commend the many South African companies that have taken a significant step forward in this particular area. |
 | SOUTH AFRICA [Peter Redelinghuys] In 2002, FORTUNE magazine ran a cover story on why companies fail. It mentioned that even the most dramatic failures tend to be years in the making. What undoes companies is the familiar stuff of human folly: denial, hubris, ego, wishful thinking, poor communication, lax oversight, greed and deceit. |

| | SOUTH AFRICA [Dirk Dijkstra] I recently took over the helm at Ahoy Employ, having no experience in the recruitment sector, at all...The basics of recruitment are pretty easy to find online so I am now kind of familiar with the workings of the recruitment business and with industry specific terms. If you're a recruiter or employer looking for the latest recruitment trends and developments, let me share my top 10 shortlist of technologies and companies that I'll be following in the years to come. |
 | SOUTH AFRICA [Refilwe Thobega] I have heard of many "boss-hates-subordinate" stories and I know many young and ambitious professionals who are complaining of "horrible bosses". I don't have to be a psychologist or a sage to cerebrate that fear and insecurity are two of the causes of hate, spite, backstabbing and conniving in many boss-subordinate and other workplace relationships in many organisations - be it government or the private sector. |
 | SOUTH AFRICA [Greg Schneider] Our crowdsourced recruitment business Hiring Bounty is off to a great start but the process hasn't been easy. Here are the top five points that I've learned about recruitment in the time since the team began working on the business. |

| | SOUTH AFRICA [Brandell Turner] The recent uproar over Woolworths' employment equity policies has brought to the fore several misconceptions about employment equity (EE). Contrary to what some (White) job candidates may think, employment equity is not designed to serve as racism in reverse. Those who feel the Employment Equity Act guarantees them top posts they are not qualified for, are wrong too. |
 | SOUTH AFRICA [Kirsten Morgendaal] The less pressurised work environment of spring offers businesses some time to think. It's a great time to formulate ideas and establish the foundations for success later in the year. |
 | SOUTH AFRICA [Suhaifa Naidoo] Choosing to be a part of a social network allows for you to be scrutinised, something once reserved for the famous. This, however, does not only stop with your friends and ex-partners: people are now being socially examined by potential employers as well. But does this mean that people should refrain from social networking? |
 | SOUTH AFRICA [Herman Manson] Fabric, an international recruitment consultancy focused on the media and marketing sectors, has opened its doors in Johannesburg under the leadership of Jacqueline Rose. Fabric also has offices in London and Dubai.

 | This was an April Fools Day release on 1 April... |
 | In world where people understand the art of decision making and consequences of ones actions this advice is deemed correct, however this careless way of doing business really runs very deep, it reflects todays society. Networks and connections are no longer what they were, they reflect exactly this kinda behaviour. When last honestly you heard a converstaion that mentioned "I have a connection my china" and it was to do with something "LEGIT" and honest, same with networks?
Take a peek at our society and you will be shocked at what it takes to do business in this age. I am afraid to say that corruption has become the norm , it doesn't matter what continent you are on. People don't really care about future prospects, they want everything now and guess what..the current business climate allows it and feeds it to the masses, what do you think a credit card is for.. "have it now ..Pay later"? Any sector you look at has the same scenarios. Ever heard someone say "it's who you know not what you know"? ..Not the advice i'd give anyone really it's plain stupidity at it's highest point. " accepting an offer and not starting with your new employer" sadly has become just another trick to get what you want now , this is the reality of "the instant pudding generation" unfortunately. Resolution ?? i say back to the basics.. The God given truths, responsibilty, respect, understanding exactly what it is we are doing , trash the all image is everything lie..image is just a paint stroke on a beautiful painting. |
