This year's Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile at Turffontein Race Course on Saturday 3 November 2012 saw her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco as the guest of honour. She joined other celebrities such as Oscar Pistorius, Alfred "Shorty" Ntombela, middle, Phuti Khomo, Juanita Mitchell, Lynné de Jager, Bailey Schneider, Sphum, Nicole Flint, Carol Tshabalala, Mark Pilgrim, Dan Nicholl and Neil Andrews. Derreck David rode the Mike de Kock-trained Festival of Fire to victory in the HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco Starling Stakes over 1400 metres at Turffontein Race Course.
