Chingola is strategically situated on the copperbelt and mining activities provide a great proportion of the town's employment.

The 2,000m² store will contribute to employment in the town by providing 116 new job positions at all levels.

Dallas Langman Pick n Pay's Head of Group Enterprises said, "The Chingola store will carry a wide range of approximately 6,000 popular lines ranging from fresh produce, to non-edible groceries, and will have a liquor department.

"...Approximately 75% of our goods will be supplied by local Zambian farmers, manufacturers, or through Zambian agents. This is integral to our model of store development in Zambia, and in other stores in the rest of Africa," said Langman.

"Outside South Africa, Pick n Pay also has stores in Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, and Lesotho, and is strategically planning further expansion into other African countries.
