Khuhle, who suffers from a debilitating lung disease called bronchiectasis, had an opportunity to sit in the cockpit of the Rooivalk, the pride of the South African defence industry. Her visit was made possible by the Reach for a Dream Foundation, an organisation that brings joy to the lives of children with life-threatening illnesses.

Dressed in pilot gear

After hearing about Khuhle's lifelong dream to become a pilot, Denel Aviation invited her for a visit to see the impressive helicopter, used by the SANDF in peace-keeping operations from up close. She got a lovely surprise when she arrived at Denel Aviation and found she was to be dressed up in glamorous pilot gear.

Khuhle had an opportunity to sit in the pilot seat of the helicopter and to meet real life pilot Andrea Mellet who told her about her dream job. At the end of visit Reach for a Dream presented a laptop to Khuhle to assist with her schooling to become a pilot and a gift pack from Denel Aviation in acknowledgement of her strength and zeal for life against tremendous odds.
