Cruise ships banned from V&A

Last year 19 cruise ships, carrying about 18 000 passengers docked at the V&A Waterfront. Industry expert and shipping commentator, Brian Ingpen told the Cape Times that the ruling could torpedo one of the world's greatest cruise liner berths, Times Live reports.

According to the Times Live report the ruling from the Department of Home Affairs was made because of "security considerations" as it did not regard the Number Two jetty as a legitimate entry point. However passengers have been disembarking at the jetty for more than 100 years.
