State Security responds to Right2Know report
"His door remains open," spokesperson Brian Dube said on Wednesday, 29 April, in response to media reports on the Right2Know's allegations of 'monitoring and harassment' of community activists.
A report by the Right2Know alleges that the country is in danger of becoming a "securocrat state".
"We wish to reaffirm the supremacy of the Constitution in our democracy and its various provisions with regards to rights, mandates and conduct of both government and the people of South Africa," Dube said.
With respect to the allegations contained in the report, Dube reiterated that there is a clear recourse that legislation provides for in respect of concerns and complaints involving the country's intelligence services.
"To this end, we advise the Right2Know to approach the Office of the Inspector General and present their complaints and evidence," said Dube.
