Career Indaba

The event will boast an array of exhibitions and workshops taking place on Sunday and Monday, 5 and 6 March 2017, at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg. The two-day convention will serve as a hub for professionals from vastly different fields, to top companies and institutions who will be providing the necessary information.

This year’s Career Indaba is out to break the mould of ordinary conventions and bring you a new, exciting and informative exhibition having you leaving with piece of mind and your questions answered.

We are proud to welcome MultiChoice on board this year as our media partner who will be adding an immense amount of content to the event, as our headline sponsor, from a television and multimedia-media perspective. We also welcome new partnerships for this year’s event, featuring unique and exciting career opportunities. FA News, creators of the Insurance Apprentice, will bring more value to the financial and business aspect of the event. They have set the benchmark for keeping tabs on the world of business and finances.

Also on board this year – we welcome The CharterQuest Institute which focuses on delivering quality professional education launching its Full-time Youth Leadership Academy (FYLA) offering ACCA, CIMA and SAICA pathways straight from high school – to kickstart in 2018. In the spirit of grooming future business leaders, CharterQuest will also be showcasing its maiden edition of The CFO Junior Case Study Competition for High School Students in South Africa.

Apart from being a leading television entertainment company, MultiChoice has a number of projects focussing on uplifting communities and the youth in South Africa. Caroline Pritchard, Manager of Corporate Affairs at MultiChoice, had this to say about their unique exhibition: “At the annual Career Indaba we will be showcasing the different careers within MultiChoice at our MultiChoice Live exhibition. The exhibition will take you through some of the highlighted careers available, ranging from the technical aspect of television to presenting. Our exhibition has seven key elements aimed at providing students an opportunity to obtain more information that will help shape their future.”

FA News, one of South Africa’s leading financial news publications, has also come on board this year to offer an opportunity to explore the world of finances. They are also behind Insurance Apprentice, the innovative and groundbreaking web series picking up steam. Coined from the television show The Apprentice, this web series sees hopefuls vying for the top prize and work to make it big in the insurance sphere. FA News will be joined by the finalists from the show, giving you a chance to meet and chat to them about their career backgrounds and the world of money.

Rianet Whitehead, Editor of FA News magazine, said that they aim to educate attendees of the event about the different opportunities within the insurance field. “With Insurance Apprentice, we aim to educate students and scholars about the insurance field and the opportunities available. The industry is different and social and we want to highlight that no matter what your field of study, you can pursue a career in the insurance industry. We want to debunk the perception that the only opportunities within the insurance field are call centre jobs and that you can be a doctor or a plumber and still thrive within the field. We’re looking forward to engaging and educating students and scholars on the different opportunities and also show parents what is on offer in the insurance sector.”

Career Indaba is hoping to bring together a blend of students and individuals ranging from 16-25+ seeking to empower themselves to succeed. The event also serves as a platform for companies and institutions to recruit their ideal candidates and raise awareness around their brand as well as the services that they provide.

You can look out for The CharterQuest Institute, who will be offering an amazing opportunity to two lucky individuals aspiring to be leaders in the business field - during the course of the two-day event. Two full three-year bursaries (CIMA and ACCA), to the value of R80,000 each (T&Cs), will be up for grabs from the institute, onsite at the event. Don’t miss out!

"As more South African companies face stiff international competition, there is a growing demand for finance and business graduates who are rigorously groomed at international levels, to help meet global competition. We are excited to be at the forefront of cutting-edge professional education that delivers on this promise. Our FYLA Programme and The CFO Case Study competition on display at Career Indaba will showcase why this is more compelling alternative to your career ambitions. Visit our stand for more info!" - D.
