Craft Collective calls for crafty exhibitors

Wholly owned by Decorex SA, Craft Collective is an enterprise development project aimed at introducing unique handmade lifestyle products, created by talented craftsmen and women around South Africa, to the Decorex Joburg trade and consumer audience. A stringent curation procedure by a panel of experts will ensure that the level of craftsmanship will position this pavillion as one of South Africa's leading craft showcases within the exhibition industry.

Decorex Joburg takes place from 7-11 August 2013 at the Gallagher Convention Centre, Midrand. One of Africa's premier de´cor, design and lifestyle exhibitions, Decorex Joburg traditionally attracts in excess of 50,000 visitors, guaranteeing Craft Collective exhibitors high levels of market exposure. Craft Collective exhibitors will also gain exposure to local and international buyers who are brought out to visit Decorex Joburg each year.

    A high-quality, sustainable showcase

Craft Collective senior project manager, Princess Tsotetsi, says that in order to support crafters who wish to take advantage of the opportunity to exhibit at Decorex Joburg, a special 20% discount on the usual exhibitor rate has been secured. That means that an exhibition space within the Craft Collective pavilion will cost R2050 per square metre.

Princess says a team of curators will ensure that all products brought to Craft Collective are of handmade South African origin, design-focused, manufactured to the highest standards and environmentally-friendly. All exhibitors will need to adhere to the principles of Fair Trade.

"As with all other design disciplines, craft needs to find a level at which it is sustainable. We aim to present a collection of craft that is unique, world class and a valuable addition to Decorex Joburg," says Tsotetsi.

Stand space within Craft Collective is limited. For further information or to exhibit at Craft Collective, contact Princess Tsotetsi at az.oc.gpet@ssecnirP or on +27 (0)11 549 8300.
