Natalie Chapman nears end of her tour

The South African singer/songwriter will play the final performance of her tour, in which she aimed to do 180 gigs in 90 days, when she appears at Marks Park, Joburg on 27 April, 2015. So far, she has performed more than 143 shows in just 72 days in 80 different towns with her message of hope through music: giving a voice to survivors of violent and sexual crimes.

She has already travelled over 12,500km of the estimated 18,000km she will travel around southern Africa. Her message of hope and encouragement to survivors of violent and sexual crimes to speak out about their ordeals has taken her to Limpopo, Gauteng, the North West Province, the Western Cape, the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, the Free State and Lesotho, thus far. The tour continues until Monday, 27 April (Freedom Day) in Joburg. She will do shows in the rest of Gauteng over the next seven days.

The tour will culminate in a fantastic event at Marks Park on 27 April, where some of the music industry's finest artists will show their support on stage.

Performing to thousands of South Africans across the demographic, religious and cultural spectrum, Chapman performs at theatres, live music venues, prisons, schools, hospitals, night shelters, abuse centres, residences for the elderly, on national television (including Morning Live, Expresso and Hectic Nine, ETV Sunrise and more) as she touches lives along the way.

Storytelling and folk/country music

Her blend of storytelling and incredible original folk/country music has impacted on survivors and communities on the ground level, one person at a time. Not only does she appeal to survivors to speak out and break the silence, but she also encourages everyday South Africans to get involved and become a part of the solution to an epidemic of violence and abuse that has swept over our country.

The line-up for the Marks Park event is:

• Natalie Chapman
• Raoul and Black Friday
