Beatenberg to support Thirty Seconds to Mars

Beatenberg will be supporting Thirty Seconds to Mars when they tour South Africa for two concerts on Friday, 13 June at the Grand Arena, GrandWest, Cape Town and Monday, 16 June at the Coca-Cola Dome, Joburg.

Beatenberg are South Africa's new face of pop, comprising Matthew Field (vocals/guitar), Ross Dorkin (bass) and Robin Brink (drums). Songwriter Field says their music is about "emotions, images and fleeting senses of things: the mad stuff that everyone feels and almost understands". The collaboration between Beatenberg and DJ Clock 'Pluto (Remember You) has grown to be the biggest smash hit of the summer reaching number one across the country and holding this position for over seven weeks, including the top spots on 5FM, Highveld, KFM, YFM and Metro FM as well as charting in the top-three3 iTunes singles.

The heights of rock and roll stardom

Thirty Seconds to Mars have gone on to scale the heights of rock and roll stardom and are known for their energetic live performances and their fusion of different genres. Although they found modest success with their eponymous debut album, it was their second album, "A Beautiful Lie", which announced them as bona fide rock and roll superstars. The band's third album, "This is War", released in 2009, garnered them another three top-10 singles, the first two of which peaked at the number one spot on the US Alternative Songs chart. Additionally, Closer To The Edge was the fastest selling rock single in the UK and topped the UK rock chart for eight consecutive weeks. The subsequent tour set a Guinness World Record for the "longest concert tour by a rock band" and helped to establish Thirty Seconds to Mars' reputation as one of the hardest working rock bands.
