Taxi Violence Turns Mercury on

Props of the evening included two large fluffy bunny rabbits who hopped around in search of fresh carrots no doubt, as well as some sexy leather-clad ladies selling shots of sambucca. A lucky fan and the DJ scored a shot from the ladies in more ways than one - they had to bend over and reveal their pale hairy bottoms and take a beating for the tot of sambucca. A number of lucky fishes also walked away with R500 tatoo vouchers courtesy of Wildfire, one of the event sponsors.

Those present enjoyed the first official screening of the new video for "Devil & Pistols" and it's great. Quality, concept and creativity are all exceptional; it's very inspiring to watch to a band grow from strength to strength and this new video shows their maturity and purposeful drive to succeed. Taxi Violence is taking the SA music industry to another level. With the era of MK providing a platform for bands to show-off their goods, all the slackers with half-grade attempts at success will be left behind.

Taxi Violence are hard workers and it shows. Those jamming sessions till 11pm that drive their neighbours crazy are paying off. So, did Taxi Violence bring it at the launch? You bet! They have an onstage presence, driven by lead vocalist George van Spuy, that is hypnotically captivating. They're entertaining and awesome to watch. Rian Zietsman is fantastic on guitar when he's performing a solo and it becomes evident that they all put 110% into creating that rockstar atmosphere. And if it's not the guitar and vox that get your feet tapping and head bopping, then the trembling base and burning drum action will get your heart racing.

A guest appearance was made by Francois van Coke (Fokof & VCK front guy) who shared in a bit of crowd-surfing with the band inspiring others to do so as well. It turned pretty raucous toward the end but Taxi Violence does have that effect on its always enthusiastic fans. They mixed the set, playing enough old tracks to get the crowd jumping and enough new ones to give us a taste of what "The Turn" is all about.
