As part of the world premier of the Michael Jackson film, This Is It, the South African memorial premiere, exclusively hosted by Ster-Kinekor, will start the evening before its release and conclude with the official first screening of the film at 3am on 28 October 2009, to coincide with other international premieres of this homage to the King of Pop.
The film documents Michael Jackson's last three months, as he prepared for the concert that never happened. Sony Music is making available footage of Jackson, along with the screening of all his music videos (including the extended version of Thriller). The Ster-Kinekor-exclusive event also plans to feature other surprises and limited edition collectors' item give-aways.

Africa was one of Jackson's final stops for his last world tour and all SK cinemas are planned to be transformed into a living tribute to the pop icon's life and work - including a Wall of Remembrance and vigil points. Ster-Kinekor Theatres will collect personal items and messages left by fans for a bound album to be sent to the Jackson family, in acknowledgment of the contributions he made to Africa.

“This film is a gift to Michael's fans. As we began assembling the footage for the motion picture, we realised we captured something extraordinary, unique and very special. It's a very private, exclusive look into a creative genius' world,” said Kenny Ortega, director of and Jackson's creative partner on the This Is It concert, who will also be directing the film. The film is being produced with the full support of The Estate of Michael Jackson.

Tickets for the Michael Jackson film, This Is It, premier in South Africa will go on sale at midnight on 26 September 2009 from Ster-Kinekor at www.sterkinekor.com or Ticketline on +27 (0) 82 16789.
