PRETORIA: A remarkable Mali defeated Ghana 3-1 to finish third in the African Cup of Nations on Saturday, 9 February 2013, overcoming the Black Stars of Ghana for the second consecutive year in the consolation match.
It was Sigamary Diarra who scored four minutes into added-on time to seal Mali's 3-1 victory over an unwavering Ghana side.

Despite the rain throughout the match at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, the referee did not call off the match as expected by some fans.

Striker Mahamadou Samassa opened the scoring with a header in the 21st minute with captain Seydou Keita adding to the scoring line in the 48th minute. It was not the first time as Mali last year beat Ghana 2-0 in the same consolation match.
