Sanco sued for R10-million over protest damage

Times Live reports that the South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco) is being sued for R10-million by the Ashton municipality in the Western Cape after protesters went on the rampage during a violent service delivery protest a week ago.
Municipal property worth millions was damaged and municipal manager Soyisele Mokweni said the mob wrecked the municipal gardens and an office block, before setting a waste removal truck and recycling plant alight.

This is the first case instituted by a municipality against the organisers of a protest march.
