NEWSWATCH: The Department of State Security is proving to be problematic on the issue of public interest (and other areas), of the Protection of State Information Bill, reports Times Live.
Times Live: State Security digs in its heels on info bill... According to the Times Live report, the organisation's acting director-general Dennis Dlomo is playing hardball. Addressing the National Council of Provinces' ad hoc committee that is processing the bill, Dlomo rejected calls to amend the draft document in a number of areas.
It seems that the department is at odds with the ANC on these issues, so one wonders what's going one behind the scenes, but one thing is almost certain: If the bill goes through in its present form, it will almost certainly be challenged in the ConCourt.
