Raeez Jacobs
I'm an enthusiastic, hard-working, motivated, creative, and respectable person with more dreams than hairs on my head.
I'm a writer (completed a novel- yet to be published), currently compiling an anthology of poems, some of which have been published locally, and internationally. I'm an actor in every sense of the word- I'm always in character- therefore, people are constantly befuddled by my actions. I sing too, and would love to do stage musicals.
Show profile Hide profileI suppose that I am meant to sell myself in this block, so that I may grab the attention of employers, agents, etc but I am not going to do that. I am not a sales person to my own attributes, I am more than just the "creative label" so often attached to hopefuls and the already rich and famous. So, instead of selling myself, I am going to paint a picture of myself; that by looking at, those interested, could walk away with an impression of me- an accurate impression of me, that is not built around my want to 'sound' perfect. I am not going to sugarcoat anything, I have always been a frank person; so frank that I know, despite saying I am not selling myself here, that is exactly what I am doing. [Laughs]
Without sounding as if I am speaking from one of heaven's floors, people have called me multi-talented before. Not so long ago, a friend of a friend's, who knows that other friend we always call James, but is actually really called Tyler, told me that I have the 'X-factor'. I was, despite being acutely aware of each and every one of my capabilities, quite taken aback by this near-platinum-like definition of myself by someone who barely knew me well enough.
I guess, even just from spending time with myself, I have to admit that I have come to know myself as the person in possession of the X-Factor (though I think I have it within me, rather than own it). I sing, and people compliment me on this, and tell me that I should do Idols or try to release an album- you know, the usual and dainty remarks. I put on accents, imitate people, play different roles in the name of fun, and for the sake of, even if there are no cameras around, just simply acting; and they tell me I should have studied drama or that I should consider auditioning for TV roles...And man, would I love to fulfill those desires!
I'm a writer too; every kind of writer, because a writer is a writer, irrespective of what is instructed to be written and in which format, it is only qualifications that form the barriers around writing. I have always been writing, and drawn to story-telling. I was the kid who loved reading, writing stories and plays and then getting everyone to act them out, I was also the kid who got everyone together, choreographed them, and put on a concert for anyone willing to watch. I hated Math and Science, and even Technology because those weren't my avenues. I always had a pencil in my mind, drawing something, and so there was a time when everyone wanted me to become an artist, but of course I knew that being an artist didn't mean sitting there with a sketch pad and pencil in my hands, drawing someone.
