Whilst these homes provide support and shelter, when these young adults come of age, they are required to leave care and live independently.
SA-YES has developed a programme to fill the gap between care and independent living. They carefully match each young individual with a trained mentor, a trustworthy adult who offers advice, assistance and guidance towards living a self-sufficient and rewarding life.
The SA-YES Transition to Independent Living (TIL) programme is a vital bridge that provides access to information on housing, employment, education and skills training, support with family and community reintegration and, most importantly, one-to-one mentoring; all of which are essential to the development of the young people.
