Eddy Mehta obtained a BSc (Hons) Degree in Pharmacology from the University of Sunderland (North East England) in 1980 after which he became registered as a Qualified Person with the Medicines division of the Department of Health under the European Economic Community.

He started off his career as the Production Manager for a leading UK manufacturing company of veterinary remedies and equestrian products where he later became responsible for product development.

Before his relocation to South Africa in 2006, Eddy managed to establish a reputation for his renowned product development innovations not only within the Veterinary Medicinal Product industry but also in the fields of Animal Health and Nutritional Products.

Ashkan Group (a member of the Animal Feed Manufacturers Association) was launched shortly after he arrived in South Africa and has, in only five years, grown to include Ashkan Animal Health, Ashkan Consulting, Ashkan Manufacturing and Ashkan Healthcare.

His company has recently aligned with Bayer Animal Health for whom Eddy has, over the past few years, been developing and formulating products which are not being distributed throughout Sub-Saharan Africa.

Eddy is married and now lives in Johannesburg.
