The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development for the Western Cape, Gerrit van Rensburg, officially opened the fifth agency for market agency group,
RSA Market Agents, in Cape Town on 1 March 2011. The agency joins Johannesburg, Durban, Bloemfontein and Tshwane markets, rounding off its presence on the five leading fresh markets in the country. Fresh produce markets (19 in total) posted a turnover for 2009/10 in excess of R9.4 billion and handled over 3 million tons of fruit and vegetables.
