Puzzled Journo
Why custom solutions work
Wait, a story where the punchline is 'Ask yourself why'?

That defeats the point of reading stories, if we already know all their central points.

Save your bottom (line) with well-being
Thanks for this article Linda, but it's a bit like reading greek to me ... my current employer can't even provide a canteen with windows, or benches outside the office (so you can actually enjoy a bit of ... what's that called again ... natural light), never mind an employee games room. The reason? It's no mystery: it's the same reason they only by Ricoffee and ration the milk ... intense penny-pinching. All their money saving has resulted in a rapid staff churn rate like you won't believe, but somebody somewhere still hasn't figured out that they're losing more money than they're gaining by trying to 'save money' by providing employees with the minimum legal requirements (i.e. nothing too lethal in the short-term). I sincerely hope that advocates like you will continue to make an impact on that stone-aged mentality, and wish me luck in the meantime!

Why you didn't even get an interview
Based on the sheer volume of applications I get, 80% end up being rejected after 10 seconds of scanning their mail because I am gatvol with people who don't know how to use spell check, or don't read the requirements! (spell check hates gatvol BTW :) )

African potential turning into real opportunities
I agree with the author. Africa is on the way to business development. Numerous of possibilities for running an online business are hidden there. Those who understand that can make money and improve their position on the market.
For example many people are about to get educated and many of them will need to order proofreading for academical papers so there should be writing service like one here https://www.essaythinker.com/blog/ray-bradbury-fahrenheit-451-essay. I'd like to find some business idea that could be implemented in Africa.

That's totally horrific - but the good news is she'll fit right in with the rest of the journo students coming out of tertiary these days...

Why you didn't even get an interview
So true... and so sad. The education system is letting this generation down... and it is exacerbated once these school-leavers enter tertiary education. We are assisting the daughter of my domestic worker, who wants to be a journalist - she is studying at a college where the lecturers don't even correct the spelling in her assignments... what hope?!

Well said, Marion. Working in recruitment I see everything you've written above on a regular basis. Very frustrating.

Why you didn't even get an interview
So many people don't even research the role or organisation, and don't see finding a job as a process in itself.

Ads take on classic 80s song, rename a town
Sometimes renaming a business can be good while others put this in danger and put the status to its default or even bankruptcy. To start a business or even a change of brand name, you must always seek expert assessments. In this case, Alexandra Watkins is expert on this field. She created various books for business branding and naming including use of taglines, descriptions and other business and corporate solutions. See http://eatmywords.com/ for more tips about re-branding and even get experts opinion online from Alexandra Watkins.

ANC says new logo is a no-go
Did anybody have a say or choice in the matter when the ANC rebranded the country in that ugly muddy colour pallet? I'n not a big fan of this new logo either, but at least it's fresher, looks happier and the colour scheme suits our city. We just are different.
