Become a Trees for Zambia ambassador - Greenpop

Greenpop has launched a fundraising initiative in order to raise the trees it plans to plant in Zambia this July. Those who participate qualify for a competition that will allow the person who sells the most trees travel to Zambia with Greenpop, for free.
Become a Trees for Zambia ambassador - Greenpop

In July this year, Greenpop is hosting a reforestation and eco-education project in Zambia, the country with the second highest deforestation rate in the world. It will be planting over 5000 trees in three weeks in the Livingstone area.

Greenpop is buying the 5000 trees from a local nursery - including tools, soil, compost, fertiliser, planting and monitoring of the tree. This will cost US$15 or R120 per tree. To make the project work, the organisation has decided to stretch out the fundraising process to a broader community.

Travel to Zambia for free

Anyone can become a Trees For Zambia ambassador and raise trees, either online, by selling Tree-keyrings, or in anyway you want and partake in a competition that, apart from eight other prizes, will see the person to sell the most trees travel with Greenpop to Zambia for free. (Terms & Conditions apply - transport is included from South Africa to Livingstone. If the winner is from outside SA, they will have to cover their transport to Livingstone but all costs on the ground will be covered.)

By signing up and creating an online activist profile and selling one single tree on it, you also stand the chance to win ZAR5000 cash. This is thanks to Rowan @Makhulu. Rowan has asked everyone to predict when all the trees will be raised by (date and time) and the person who comes closest will win the R5000.

For more information, email Charlotte at gro.popneerg@ettolrahc, join the Greenpop Facebook group and invite friends.
People must register for the competition by Friday, 10 Feb to qualify for the prediction challenge. It will go on until the 30 April 2012, that's when all the trees will be counted up and the lucky winners will be announced.
