Plastic pipes cartel smashed

According to reports on Business Live, Fin24 and Business Day, the Competition Tribunal has heaped praise on Petzetakis Africa's managing director Michelle Harding for exposing collusive practices in the plastic pipes sector and has given the company an 80% discount in penalties. Petzetakis was fined R9,92-million for its role in fixing prices and allocating markets.

Earlier this year major manufacturers Marley Pipe Systems, Swan Plastics and Flo-tek Pipes and Irrigation settled with the Commission by paying huge fines of R31-million, R7,6-million and R5-million respectively, Business Live, Fin24 and Business Day report.
