CTIJF to promote Khayelitsha as a tourist destination

"It's an exciting new development for us, and one we look forward to for years to come. The CTIJF is a prime environment for our festival-goer to discover new sounds, but it is also the perfect place for them to be exposed to new places and experiences," says Billy Domingo, Jazz festival director.

"For our communities, it’s an opportunity to connect with a market they would not otherwise benefit from. It’s an opportunity we are delighted to provide."

This year’s exhibitors from Khayelitsha are ABCD Concepts Tours, Lungi’s Bed and Breakfast, Malebo’s Bed and Breakfast and the ever-popular social hotspot Rands CPT. All exhibitors will be taking bookings at the festival and beforehand via our website.

Visitors can experience a comfortable stayover at Malebo’s Bed and Breakfast, which comprises sincere hospitality and down-to-earth vibes of local Xhosa culture. Malebo’s is locally owned and has been hosting both local and international travellers for more than 16 years. It has five comfortable rooms and specialises in traditional Xhosa cuisine and culture.

Lungi’s Bed and Breakfast, located in a traditional house, offers a real Khayelitsha experience from the inside. Guests can immerse themselves in the local community and culture and be fascinated and entertained by people’s stories, while enjoying the convenient location of Lungi’s.

It also offers insight into the neighbourhood’s creativity and entrepreneurship activities, as guests are greeted with warm and welcoming smiles.

ABCD Concepts Tours offers clients an authentic experience, with tours guided by locals who live in the community. Tours can be tailored for individuals, couples, students, families and friends, and groups wishing to explore the beautiful local community. Its tours include insight into food, history, lifestyle and partying in Khayelitsha.

Rands CPT is a haven for good food and music, and quality entertainment. This eatery’s signature meat dishes are accompanied by authentic township-inspired sides like chakalaka and creamy spinach and pap.
