Sao Paulo hotel opens namesake in Rio

Well regarded as one of the finest hotels in Sao Paulo, a special accolade considering it is the fourth most populous city on the globe, the luxury Emiliano boutique hotel, part of The Leading Hotels of the World portfolio, has this month opened a second hotel in Brazil's storied Copacabana beach area of Rio de Janeiro.

The owners have brought their over 15 years experience in Sao Paulo to their new Avendia Atlântica location, near the fort. The building, designed by Arthur de Mattos Casas who also architected the Sao Paulo property, is best described as Brazilian Modernism.

The 90-key hotel has 30 suites. At almost 400m², the Ocean Master Suite is vast while the 11th floor Ocean SPA Suite is just under 300m². Other room categories include a Courtyard SPA Junior Suite, Ocean Emiliano Suite, Ocean Junior Suite Ocean Deluxe, and Deluxe Twin Courtyard and Deluxe King Courtyard. The smallest rooms are a comfortable 138 m².

As with the Emiliano São Paulo, all suites and apartments feature exclusive decor details and 500-thread Egyptian cotton sheets, Hungarian goose feather pillows, Japanese heated toilet seats, high-tech automation and internet.

Organic Brazilian modern

Emiliano's main restaurant is helmed by Chef Damien Montecer and showcases modern Brazilian cuisine with a focus on organic products given the minimum interference. A feature of the restaurant interior is a vertical garden which invokes the feel of the Atlantic Forest. Notable in terms of the design are lampião chairs, designed by Arthur de Mattos Casas, recently launched at the Milan Furniture Show.

The Santapele Spa is located on the 11th floor and designed to integrate the wet areas of the hotel, such as the experience showers and saunas while a state-of-the-art Technogym fitness centre overlooks the famous Copacabana beach. The rooftop at the Emiliano Rio de Janeiro, with an infinity pool that allows you to enjoy the breathtaking view of the sea and one of the most famous beaches in the world, has a poolside restaurant offering light, healthy meals.
