First National Battery wins GM inaugural award

This year General Motors (GM) added a quality performance award for its top product suppliers - the GM Supplier Quality Excellence Award. First National Battery (FNB), a leading South African battery manufacturer, was the recipient of this inaugural award.

GM implemented this new recognition for suppliers that have demonstrated the highest levels of quality performance over the previous 12 months. The 2012 horizon covers the period from 1 July 2011 to 30 June 2012. With over 80 years battery experience, manufacturing over 2.2 million batteries annually and being leading experts in their field, it is apt that FNB was recognised in this way.

"We are extremely honoured by this award from GM, as it shows that we are continuing to make a marked difference in this highly competitive industry," said Dr. Louis Denner, managing director of FNB.

In addtion to being an OEM approved supplier, FNB has also signed an agreement to be the national approved supplier to the General Motors Dealership network for the after market.
