#CoronavirusSA: How Ster-Kinekor is taking precautions at its cinemas

Ster-Kinekor has announced that it has undertaken a number of safety precautions in light of the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus. The cinema chain made the decision after President Cyril Ramaphosa declared a state of disaster - setting in motion a number of protocols including the ban of gatherings of more than 100 people.

“Ster-Kinekor’s executive committee has been working to ensure that it remains abreast of all developments relating to the outbreak of coronavirus. Certain hygiene protocol steps had already been taken including the placement of hand sanitizers in cinemas and minimising staff in periods when they are not required,” it said in a statement.

The executive committee and leadership team have also encouraged social distancing inside the cinema, by ensuring that two seats be left empty between every booked seat. In addition, the cinema capacity for each show will be capped at 100. Ster-Kinekor is proceeding with scheduled programming, however, no shows will screen before 12pm or after 6pm.
