Han Oldenburger has been appointed regional director for Southern Africa for the Rezidor Hotel Group.
Oldenburger, a Dutchman who has been with the group for two decades, succeeds Maarten van den Nieuwenhuijsen and will be based in Cape Town.

"Han needs little introduction, having held general manager and regional director positions within our company since 1991," says Rezidor president and CEO, Kurt Ritter.

His first appointment was as general manager of one of the group's hotels in Amsterdam, followed by his appointment as vice president and general manager first in Denmark and later in Germany. A three-year stint as a general manager in Germany followed before Oldenburger was transferred to city general manager of two hotels in Amsterdam in The Netherlands.

In October 2003 Oldenburger was appointed regional director for the Benelux region. Prior to his skills being required in Southern Africa, he had, since February 2009, been working as regional director for Ireland and Northern Ireland.

"As part of my duties I will be looking to increase Radisson Blu's brand recognition as well as that of our 'Mother brand' of The Rezidor Hotel Group," Oldenburger says.

"I am very happy to be living and working on the African continent, in a country and city which I love," Oldenburger says.

Responsible for Rezidor's growing portfolio of hotels in South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Mozambique and Zambia which are branded under the Radisson Blu and Park Inn by Radisson colours, Oldenburger will report directly to Brussels-based Jacques Dubois, senior vice president & COO.
