The South African Sevens team has assembled in Cape Town to start preparations for the last two tournaments in the IRB Sevens World Series, which will take place next month in London and Edinburgh.
Philip Snyman, Lionel Mapoe and Gio Aplon have recovered from their injuries and all three will be available for selection, which means that Treu now has a full squad to choose from.
In addition to the fit-again regulars, the selectors have also invited Tendayi Chikukwa, Sampie Mastriet (Blue Bulls) and Cecil Afrika (Griffons) to the training camp in Stellenbosch.
There is also a strong possibility that the team might be in action before next month's two crucial tournaments. According to Treu, the team is considering an invitation from Morocco to play in a tournament in Tangiers on 7 - 8 May.
“We still need to finalise a few things and would probably make a call towards the end of the week. It might be to our advantage to take up the offer because it would give us the opportunity to give some of the younger players more game time,” said Treu.
The Springboks Sevens team currently leads England by 28 points in the World Series and another good performance in London on 23 - 24 May will edge the team closer to their first ever Series title.
The team has won tournament titles in Dubai, George and Adelaide and also suffered a narrow lost to Fiji in the final of the prestigious Hong Kong Sevens.
The Springbok Sevens training squad is:
Mpho Mbiyozo, Robert Ebersohn, Frankie Horne, Vuyo Zangqa, Philip Snyman, Kyle Brown, Renfred Dazel, Ryno Benjamin, Paul Delport, Mzwandile Stick, Gio Aplon, Chase Minnaar, Lionel Mapoe, Cecil Afrika, Neil Powell, Tendayi Chikukwa, Sampie Mastriet, Howard Noble.
