Asparagus Festival at Dornier Wine Estate

Bodega Restaurant's Asparagus Festival will take place for the month of October 2009 and the festival menu will include classic European-styled dishes such as asparagus soup as well as the large white asparagus accompanied with Hollandaise sauce, horseradish or a herb vinaigrette.
Bodega's farm cuisine is perfectly suited to asparagus, which is healthy, seasonal and locally sourced, making asparagus the ideal addition to the restaurant's repertoire. “White asparagus has finally become locally available and to mark the special occasion we will be celebrating this healthy, delicately flavoured ingredient by creating numerous fresh culinary dishes paired with Dornier's delicious wines,” said head chef Naas Pienaar.

Naas and his team will also offer a range of their own inventive dishes using asparagus, such as double baked goats cheese soufflé with white asparagus cream, asparagus and porcini mushroom risotto with freshly grated parmesan cheese, and extra-large white asparagus and fresh perlemoen (abalone) gratin.

The popular a la carte menu will continue to be available during the asparagus festival and Bodega is open for lunch daily from 12pm to 5pm and for dinner from Thursday to Saturday from 6pm to 9.30pm. Bookings are essential. To reserve your table, go to www.bodega.co.za.
