Caffeluxe - two-week challenge

I'm not sure whether it is a blessing or a curse, but I have never been one to need my "daily fix" of coffee. So when invited to do a taste test with Caffeluxe, I wasn't incredibly optimistic about my chances of getting anything right. (One out of three can't be too bad, I'm sure). Regardless of my failure as a coffee taster, it was incredible to have the various flavours, beans and varieties explained by people who have an unparalleled passion for coffee.

I was lucky enough to be given a Caffeluxe coffee machine, with capsules included and a recipe book. (Apparently you can cook with coffee, who knew?) Basically, the challenge was to try the coffee variants, experiment with them and get some interesting new flavours going. I will have to admit that a lot of my flavour interaction involved liqueur or honey and my cooking went as far as burning coffee-flavoured muffins that I tried to construct.

Caffeluxe - two-week challenge

Caffeine buzz within minutes

However, I will say this - I had always imagined a coffee machine to be a mission to get a really nice cup of Joe, but I was clearly mistaken. With a push of a button I could have my caffeine buzz within minutes. The variants are sourced from Colombia, Peru, Ethiopia, Rwanda and Kenya, and the capsules are recyclable. So, for two weeks I got to wake up, go on a little coffee adventure and then be good to the planet, which is most definitely a good way to start the day if ever there was one.

Unfortunately after two weeks I had to give up my new morning friend and go back to instant nonsense. Luckily for me, and anyone else who doesn't have R5000 for a coffee machine but loves the convenience, a Caffeluxe machine is between R699 and R1299 and can be found online as well as in many retailers.

I can safely say after two weeks with Caffeluxe, I now need my "daily fix".
