South African rock band, The Dirty Skirts, are going to Dubai next week from to perform at the Middle East music industry conference and festival, Dubai Sound City, held 5 - 7 November 2009, along with fellow SA group, The Parlotones.
"The Dirty Skirts are very excited to be flying off to play Dubai Sound City festival. We're sharing the stage with some astonishing bands, and more importantly, making inroads into the middle east which is a really fun place for us to play. We also thoroughly enjoy each others' company, so it's a great chance to hang out. The ski resort in the Emirates Mall is also pretty neat," says the band.

Bands that they're excited to play with include Human League, Doves, The Futureheads, Happy Mondays, De La Soul, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Wombats, Super Furry Animals, Alphabeat and Nitin Sawhney.

Dubai Sound City is a three-day music industry conference and festival focused on allowing delegates to do business, network, learn and discover new and established artists from across the Middle East and around the world.

Aimed at those entrepreneurs who embrace innovation and change within music, Dubai Sound City offers opportunities for organisations from all over the world to showcase their products, services and artists to the professionals who will shape the future of music and entertainment and the fans who ravenously consume it.
