The Independent Kings of Cape Town, widely known for their uncompromising, good solid brand of rock ‘n roll, are back in studio to record their much anticipated second full length album, 'The Turn'.
Taxi Violence, famed for their DIY attitude and energetic live performances released their acclaimed debut album, Untie Yourself, in 2006. The album received rave reviews from media nationwide which earned them a huge and loyal following.

“Enter Taxi Violence, which is the best thing to happen to Sought African rock music since the Springbok Nude Girls.”
…”They are a band fuelled by a DIY self-belief and an unflinching passion for good old-fashioned balls-to-the-wall rock ‘n roll rebellion.

“Few SA bands are as rock ‘n roll as Cape Town sensation Taxi Violence.” - The Weekender

These masters of their craft will deliver another one of it's kind rock album, due for release in August this year. “Our current sound can be described as epic, sleazy blues infused rock. It is melodic and unconventionally catchy with positive, yet dark undertones. The songs depict stories of addiction, parting ways, betrayal, perseverance and new beginnings" says George van der Spuy, vocalist for the band.

A documentary trailing the band in studio and in their daily doings-and-happenings is currently being filmed by Smokin Gun Productions which will also accompany the release of the new album.

September sees the band traveling abroad for the first time in their career. They will head to Holland and Germany to play 10 shows, the major one being the Popkomm festival in Berlin.

Untie Yourself: Re-released
Due to popular demand a special limited edition CD will be released in June for fans and those who couldn't get their hands on the album before. In 2008, Untie Yourself was nominated in the category for Best Rock Album. The repress will include the previously unreleased single Hold ‘em or Fold ‘em.

Untie Yourself will be re-launched on the 20th June 2009 at Assembly in Cape Town with support acts The Ragdolls and The Uncut (Johannesburg).
