ESPN, Samsung and Starcom launches digital sports series

Samsung Mobile and ESPN, in collaboration with Samsung's media agency Starcom, have launched Project Teamwork - a global series spanning four continents, profiling five teams striving for greatness. The 12-part series will focus on the principles of teamwork, while also illustrating how mobile technology can improve sport.

The weekly episodes will appear on www.espn.com/projectteamwork, as well as on Samsung Mobile's Facebook and YouTube channels. ESPN's various websites globally will host a marketing initiative to drive viewing. A set of feature articles produced by ESPN on the "Greatest Teams of All Time" in select sports will appear over the course of 12 weeks, along with co-branded multimedia assets, a social media campaign and on-air vignettes.

The initiative also includes a product placement element - Samsung GALAXY SII and GALAXY Tab 10.1 are integrated throughout the episodes to demonstrate how teams can improve their collective performance. As part of the exploration of teamwork, participating athletes and hosts use Samsung mobile products to connect with family and friends, share videos and pictures, develop and improve training, study performances and document behind-the-scenes experiences.

Need for passion, courage is universal

From the Dutch beach volleyball team and Jamaica's famed track stars preparing for their shot at Olympic gold, to "freerunners" practising Parkour among the ancient ruins of Morocco, the series explores how the need for passion, courage and collaboration is universal across sports and throughout the world. Additional episodes showcase a Brazilian street soccer team taking to the streets of Floripa and a 10-time championship handball team in Barcelona.

"Project Teamwork is a prime example of our dedication to providing meaningful experiences to people across the globe on their terms, catering to their passions - including sports," said YH Lee, EVP of Global Marketing at Samsung Mobile. "Technology is constantly changing the way people play and experience sports, and all teams regardless of skill level are looking for new ways to improve."
