The North West Tourism Board is a Provincial Public Entity in accordance with Schedule 3(c) of the Public Finance Management Act and it is established through the North West Tourism Act 2 of 2015.
Speaking during the inaugural ceremony, MEC Mohono expressed her satisfaction with individuals who were appointed to constitute the board. "We are truly blessed to have minds of this caliber at our disposal. This is diversity at its purest form, all members are from various walks of life, different academic disciplines and unique social standing. The tourism cartel and our stakeholders at large will be looking onto this entity to promote, market and influence our course of socio-economic growth in our province", she said.
Mohono added that amongst other things which includes marketing the province as tourism destination locally, provincially, nationally and internationally the board has a mammoth task of also providing tourism training and skills transfer in the sector.
"This board will also take on the responsibility to facilitate the promotion of tourism investment in the Province while creating an enabling environment for access to markets for new entrants in the sector in the Province and contribute to the establishment of enabling environment o lob creation in the tourism sector in the Province", Mohono added.
