    Werksmans appoints director to lead mining team

    Werksmans Attorneys has appointed Chris Stevens as director with effect from 2 April 2012. With a high profile in the legal fraternity - both local and international - Stevens brings a wealth of expertise in key areas such as commercial arrangements, mining titles registrations, litigation, opinion work and black economic empowerment laws.

    Werksmans Attorneys' chairman, Des Williams, says: "Chris is a highly skilled lawyer and he will be responsible for leading and growing a strong mining team in the firm. Mining is a key practice area at Werksmans, from a litigation, commercial and regulatory point of view, and his depth of experience across these areas will be instrumental in helping us achieve our objectives."

    Stevens has advised numerous American, UK, Canadian and Australian mining companies with interests in South Africa, many of the major South African mining houses and numerous black economic empowerment companies in relation to mining transactions. His experience extends into Africa where he has also been involved in numerous transactions for South African mining entities in sub-Saharan Africa.
