Reliance Compost has purchased a crusher which will be used to remove building rubble from Cape Town's municipal drop-off sites and landfills.
Reliance Compost uses Rubble Master for building rubble

Reliance decided on Pilot Crushtec International's Rubble Master RM70 GO!, the track-mounted impact crusher that is fast becoming the crusher of choice for local recyclers.

"The company needed a highly-mobile crusher to process rubble on at least seven different sites. It also needed a versatile machine that would have to be both user-friendly and environmentally-friendly, especially when working in close proximity to residential areas. The RM 70GO! has been designed to operate within the confines of strict European Union regulations and was the obvious choice to meet our customer's needs," says Pilot Crushtec International national sales manager, Nicolan Govender.

Reliance Compost director Eddie Redelinghuys confirms that the Rubble Master has more than lived up to expectations, especially when it comes to logistics. "The Rubble Master is incredibly mobile, in fact it's as easy to move around as, for example, a front-end loader. The push button control system is simple to operate so it is effortlessly driven on or off a low loader by remote control," he says.

Useful for other projects

Redelinghuys expects that in addition to the Cape Town municipal contract, the Rubble Master will be put to good use in other areas, including Stellenbosch and Paarl. He makes the point that the product from processed rubble is an added bonus as it can be used in other projects, including replacing material removed from landfills.

Looking to the future, Redelinghuys sees recycling of building products becoming an integral part of the construction process.

"We are going to see situations where old buildings are being demolished to make way for new structures; the rubble will be recycled on site and converted back into usable building material. This means we will be minimising waste by transforming it into a renewable resource rather than just throwing it away."

The fuel efficient Rubble Master RM70 GO! is able to process building rubble including stone, concrete, glass and asphalt at a rate of up to 120 tons per hour while consuming a mere 15 litres of diesel in the same period. Produced by Rubble Master in Linz, Austria, the products are fully compliant with European regulations concerning exhaust, noise emissions and dust suppression.
